When it comes to making money online with surveys, there is a lot of scams. This is unfortunate because there are legitimate market research companies that need your opinion and are willing to pay you for it. All the sites I recommend on Survey Chris are free sites to sign up for, but I figured I would put together a quick little list of the best free survey sites to earn money with, and explain why you should only be signing up for free sites.
Taking surveys online is a legitimate way to make money, and you should be making money doing so, not spending it on “registration fees” or whatever else people name their scams.
The reason legitimate sites are free is because market research companies get hired by companies to get feedback from people on their products or services. Market research companies know that people don't like to just take surveys, so they offer rewards to the survey takers. These rewards vary from magazine subscriptions, to gift cards, to actual money (my favorite).
These market research companies have an important job, and understand they need to pay for their information. It ends up shaping the products and services that you and I use everyday.
While this great for us, it is also an opportunity for not so honest people to scam you. These online survey scams tend to come in the form of Survey Routers or fake survey panels.
Survey routers are companies that you register with and then they email you surveys from other companies. They either make you pay for the registration or take some of your earnings from the company. Neither of these are good options for you, especially when it's extremely simple to just go to these survey companies on your own and sign up.
Another way you can be scammed is fake online survey panels. These websites will ask you questions that you shouldn't be getting asked, such as account passwords, banking numbers or social security numbers. A legitimate survey panel will not ask for these.
To figure out which companies are to be avoided and which are legitimate, you can research the company that runs the, such as looking at their BBB profile and you can look at reviews of people who have actually used them. If you don't want to do all that work and just want to start earning money, you can look for survey review sites that do all that work for you and recommend legitimate sites (like my site does).

Opinion Outpost is a great site for starting out. They pay above average and have a quick payout system.

Paid Viewpoint
Paid Viewpoint is one of the nicer designed websites for taking surveys. They also have interesting and very quick surveys. The more you use them, the more you get paid per question.

MindSwarms
MindSwarms is a video based survey company where you need to apply for surveys. The best part is that each survey takes less than 20 minutes and pays $50 within 24 hours.

SurveySpot
SurveySpot and Opinion Outpost are 2 survey panels operated by the same market research company. This means it's another great site. The only thing to worry about is sometimes a survey will be posted to sites. You quickly get screened out, so it's not a big problem.

iPoll is the rebranded form of SurveyHead. iPoll offers a lot of surveys in their dashboard, along with having one of the best mobile apps available. Not only is this a free survey site, you get paid $5 upon sign up.
